Use these simple tips to Paint Melamine Cover Surfaces
Yes, you can paint melamine cover surfaces and if done right it is not a tedious process and it can also be a useful low cost makeover that will do wonders for your kitchens, any other indoor rooms or outdoor spaces for that matter. What's even more fun is that you can now get melamine paint in a large and wide variety of different colours.
It is process that must be followed one step at a time. First of all, one must use a good cleaner to clean the surface. I recommend you use the liquid version, which is not toxic like the powder you have to mix. You can find it in any store that deals with interior products. You can also find these Melamine cover surface cleaners at large surface renovating stores. Make sure you wash it properly all around. Another important benefit of using the liquid is that you won't have to rinse after.
Once you've cleaned the surface to remove any trace of grease, oil, or any other substance, you must then prime the cabinets with oil based primer. Melamine paints are a combination of a urethane product and an oil-based paint. Because the paint is oil-based, it is a little more difficult to work with than other paints and has to be cleaned up using a solvent or paint thinner. These paints take longer to dry than latex paints, but are durable and have the advantage being able to stick to slick surfaces like these.
Mostly there are no stores that provide products such as a melamine primer but oil primer will do the trick as you can paint on top of this with any kind of paint. Once you have cleaned the surface with the primer, you can go ahead and start painting the melamine cover surface with melamine paint. It usually works better with sponge brushes and rollers and goes on much smoother with sponge. You can try Krylon Fusion spray paint. It's formulated to adhere to plastic surfaces. I give it my full, enthusiastic endorsement. I was dubious about its effectiveness at first, but was pleasantly surprised with the results I got from it on a recent project.
Now that the melamine cover board is properly sanded and primer has been applied you can start to paint it. One of the simplest ways is to use a coat of the melamine paint to the board using whichever brush is recommended for the paint you are using. For best results you should apply the paint in a thin layer. Let this first layer of paint dry and then apply another layer of paint as you did previously. Add another coat if you think it is necessary.

Range of Melamine Covers
The word laminate means a sheet made by amalgamation of two or more sheets or layers. You can advertise a surface as being laminated, if you put an extra coating on a wooden surface. Melamine Covers is an organic based cover used on different types of laminates. The two types of laminates are basically low pressure laminates and high pressure laminates.
The word Melamin is of German origin, coined by amalgamating the words: melam (a derivative of ammonium thiocyanate) and amine. It is, therefore, unrelated etymologically to the root melas, from which the words MELANIN, a pigment, and melatonin, a hormone, are formed. The melamine laminates are used to create a variety of handsome multi-colored signs, plaques, and nameplates that do not melt like ambitious thermoplastic materials – an essentially pivotal attribute for fire safety in public buildings. These resin combined with fine weave cotton (linen) material is also available.
This high performance material is harder than phenolic linen materials and offers higher arc resistance. Although designed for arc-resistant switch bases and contact holders, this white, high performance material is also used for decorative parts. When you purchase this range of laminates, it is mostly pinned to a particleboard which has voids in the end grain. To cover this, and any holes made during manufacturing of the enclosure, it is a layman’s process to use "edge banding". Edge banding is a flimsy roll of melamine paper very alike to masking tape. This is rolled onto the edge to enclose the unsightly end grain. For control panel enclosures, it is common for manufacturers to use T-molding instead.
The ranges of covers are used for end number of purposes. These can be used on plywood, wood panel, laminates, chip boards and much more. People can also it for making furniture, flooring, partitions and much more. The ranges of these covers are produced with help of very innovative and unique technological processes. The paper materials are impregnated with modified amino plastic synthetic resin and dried in inline drying chambers. These are mainly considered to be direct pressure laminate or low pressure laminates. You can use various tips to enhance the durability of the product; Sealing with clear sealer will provide protection for wood. You can stain interiors before sealing if desired. This is preferred if you have cabinets with glass doors so finished interiors will show a lot of promise. Leftover Melamine laminate sheets/pieces make great garage dust pans and great photography background small arts and much more.
